The Depths of Redemption

In the New World of Pemonia, eight hundred years before Arasemis rekindled the secretive Candlestone assassins, Rildning craves the adventures of his past life as a colonial knight. When he joins an expedition seeking native allies, the mission’s true purpose is revealed: a ruthless hunt for gold and revenge. Weary and betrayed, Rildning ventures deeper into the wilderness in search of a lost companion.

Taken captive by natives while struggling to survive, Rildning must abandon his past and endure their trials to earn their respect. He finds new purpose among them—and even love. But as imperial legions gather to march on the natives’ capital, Rildning uncovers an ancient prophecy that could unite the Old and New Worlds in peace—or forever condemn them to war.

The Depths of Redemption is the first of a double prequel to Lords of Deception. It is the only Magnacodex novel written in the first person, in the form of Rildning’s journal. The second prequel is A Light in the Depths.

Reviews

“This decision to explore the universe by spreading out histories and characters is refreshing and reminiscent of Terry Pratchett’s’ Discworld… Within the wilderness of the New World [Newnorth] has created a fantastical environment that is beautiful but when it becomes dark, it becomes dark!… The number of creative elements within this novel are staggering. Though judging by the debut novel, this is not surprising.”
